Hi friends, Annie here. ⠀
⠀
Delighted to share with you a shot of a 3D model we finished off recently for an interactive on Microbiology. Stylistically, our client's brief called for models that prioritised the core information over realism. The aim was to create a set of '3D diagrams' that users can navigate intuitively and learn from efficiently. One thing we loved about this project was the time the client had taken to craft a well-thought-out creative brief for us. Most projects change and evolve during the production process, but having a defined set of goals and a clear vision from the outset helps immensely at every stage to keep things on track. ⠀

Alrighty friends, here's a quick tip that I'm sure a lot of you already know. If you're stuck for time and don't want to build a 3D model of your medical device from scratch there is a nice function within #adobeillustrator that allows you to quickly create a 3D object.
The first step is to locate the manufacturer's guidelines or instructions for use (IFU) for that device and its components. Using that as a reference you can create a flat outline of the device that you can extrude using Illustrator's 3D Extrude and Bevel function. There are a lot of options within this tool setting that you can adjust and match to the IFU guidelines. Using that as a base you can further refine your device drawing for your #medicalillustration.
The uses for this are endless and not limited to hard surface models. Have a try and see what you come up with.
